Les vacances

Highlights from our wonderful week in Bordeaux

The air ducts at Bordeaux airport. We touchdown in the midst of a storm and had to wait ages for our hire car. No matter as the girls got hours of fun from the air ducts at the airport! They giggled and giggled as only 2 year olds can.

After the boys drenched themselves in said storm executing the feat of engineering that was packing the hire car (it may have had 7 seats but had no boot space whatsoever!) We arrived to open the doors, gasp with excitement and run around tremendously happy that we were going to be staying in such a gorgeous place. Even better was the thoughtfulness of the owners who had laiden the table with goodies for our first meal - succulent roast chicken, juicy tomatoes, peaches, grapes, delicious breads and cheeses all washed down with icy cold pink fizz from the vineyard. Heaven!

The lovely Chateau Grand Pierre

A rolls royce outside le supermarche

Bread from the market in Duras

View from our pool
Vines and cherries

Best friends

3 little monkeys

Learnt how to scooter

The bath in our bedroom

The ch's wild boar

The wine

The beach at Cap Ferret. We also discovered a string of pretty fishing villages along the Atlantic coast which specialise in oysters.

Dressing for dinner. Toy cars essential!

Eating out

Our final night - dinner at the Moutier's duck farm. Amazing 7 course meal, with duck, duck and more duck, and wine galore. Giggly over the risque glasses they served Eau de Vie in at the end of the meal! We saw a wild boar running in our headlights on the way home.

I definitely want to go back!

We went to Bordeaux a couple of years ago and also had a wonderful time. I wouldn't have thought of it as being a good place to take kids - but Olive and her friends look like they had an absolute ball! It gives me hope to hear that travel is possible with children...
